Betty “Brumley” Pockrus, age 70, of Neosho, Mo., passed away on Tuesday May 1, 2012, at her home, following an illness.
Betty was born on July 14, 1941 in Stella, Mo., the daughter of the late Albert E. and Goldie (Schell) Brumley. She was a part of a well known musical family. In her younger years she sang on television with Merle Haggard. She also sang in a show in Nashville, Tenn. She married Billy Pockrus on August 30, 1963 in Cassville, Mo. She was a devoted wife and mother who truly enjoyed taking care of her family. She was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Neosho, Mo. Betty was a lovely person both inside and out and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Billy Pokrus, Neosho, Mo.; one daughter Angie Wilhoite and husband Ernest, Joplin; two brothers, Jackson Stamps Brumley, Nashville, Tenn., and Albert E. Brumley, Jr., Monett, Mo.; five grandchildren Porsche Scott, Raymond Knowles, III, Ernest Wilhoite, Jr., Davis Wilhoite, and Jona Pockrus; and one great-grandson, Raymond Knowles, IV. She was preceded in death by her son Billy Pockrus, Jr.; and two brothers, Tom Brumley and William “Bill” Brumley.
A visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday, with cremation to follow.
