Russell G. Dedrickson, age 80, of Diamond, Mo., passed away on Thursday July 5, 2012 at Landmark Hospital, following an illness.
Russell was born on November 2, 1931 in Sutton, Neb., the son of the late Oliver and Agnes (Gernandt) Dedrickson. He served in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy and was veteran of the Korean War. He has been a resident of Diamond since 1980. He worked as a supervisor for Safeway Bakery, retiring in the mid 1990’s. He served as past commander of the VFW. Russell enjoyed wood working, building, and fishing.
He married Rebecca Wiegand on September 23, 1993 in Miami, Okla. and she survives. Additional survivors include two step-daughters, Christina Hartman and husband Patrick, Webb City, Mo., and Denise Havens, Bolivar, Mo.; one brother, Lloyd Dedrickson and wife Nita, Bella Vista, Ark.; one sister, Judy Hood and husband Gerald, Joplin; three grandsons, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Henson.
Russell will be cremated. The family will receive friends 3-4 p.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. A private burial of ashes will be held at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.
